Alien Ant Farm Turn the Language of Deception Into New Single ‘Gaslighter’
Alien Ant Farm have returned with ‘Gaslighter’, a new single that takes aim at manipulation and the people who distort the truth, arriving ahead of the band’s upcoming UK dates.

Artist: Alien Ant Farm
Released on 7 October through Judge & Jury Records, the track draws on the alternative-rock band’s heavier influences, with frontman Dryden Mitchell citing Audioslave and Rage Against The Machine as reference points. The accompanying video was directed by Bobby Hewitt, formerly the drummer of Orgy, who has worked with the band on previous visuals.
The song’s origins are more unusual than its title might suggest. Mitchell has explained that the idea initially revolved around coded language and the way people conceal what they really mean. He connected that starting point to Native American service members who used their languages to transmit messages during wartime. The working concept was ‘Code Talker’ before the band settled on ‘Gaslighter’, bringing the focus closer to the experience of dealing with someone who manipulates the truth.
That shift gives the song a more personal target. Rather than treating deception as an abstract subject, ‘Gaslighter’ addresses the damage caused when someone repeatedly denies or distorts another person’s experience. Musically, the band pair that subject with a direct, guitar-driven arrangement that builds towards a more hopeful resolution.
The release arrives as Alien Ant Farm continue to tour and work on new material. Their latest album, mAntras, came out in 2024, and the band have since continued releasing singles, including ‘Reasons’ earlier this year.
UK audiences will have several opportunities to catch them live later this month and in November. They join Skindred’s You Got This tour at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on 30 October and London’s Alexandra Palace on Halloween, before heading out for headline dates including Bristol on 1 November, Leeds on 3 November and Edinburgh on 4 November.
‘Gaslighter’ is available now via Judge & Jury Records, with the official video online.
