cleopatrick have released new single ‘WHAAT’, marking the start of the next chapter for the Canadian alternative-rock duo, alongside the announcement of an extensive 2027 world tour.
The track is the first preview of their forthcoming third album, following 2025’s FAKE MOON. Produced by the band alongside Zig Production House, the team behind their 2021 debut BUMMER, ‘WHAAT’ brings the duo back to a heavier, distortion-driven sound while pushing towards what comes next.
“WHAAT is us showing off this rad new bounce we found,” guitarist and vocalist Luke Gruntz explains. “It’s loose, but confident. Something shifted in our process this past year. It feels like there’s been some channeling going on. We’ve been getting out of the way of the music and just letting it happen.”
That shift is something Gruntz discussed in our recent interview, where he explored the ideas behind the new music, the direction of the forthcoming record and the freedom that comes with continuing to develop cleopatrick’s sound.
The release also reunites the duo with the production team behind BUMMER, the record that helped establish their reputation for combining heavyweight riffs with an instinct for hooks. Following the more exploratory approach of FAKE MOON, ‘WHAAT’ suggests they are bringing some of that earlier intensity into their next phase without simply retracing their steps.
Alongside the single, cleopatrick have confirmed a 2027 tour across Europe, the UK and North America. The UK leg begins at Brighton’s Chalk on 12 March, followed by Birmingham, Glasgow, Nottingham, London, Bristol and Manchester.
