Enter Shikari Release “Higher Ground” As Their Final Chapter Takes Shape
Enter Shikari have released a new song, “Higher Ground”, quietly adding another track to the band's catalogue at a particularly interesting point in their story.

The song was originally written during the sessions for this year's Lose Your Self, but the band decided it didn't belong on the album and left it unfinished. They returned to it over the spring and summer, completing the track and releasing it now as they prepare for the next stage of their career.
That timing matters. Earlier this month, Enter Shikari announced plans to step away from the band at the end of 2027. They have stressed that this isn't necessarily a permanent split, describing it instead as a period of dormancy that could eventually lead to a return, or could ultimately mark the end of the band.
“Higher Ground” therefore arrives without being presented as a farewell. There's no suggestion from the band that this is some final statement, but its release inevitably sits differently alongside their decision to put the brakes on Enter Shikari.
The song itself reflects that sense of perspective. Rou Reynolds has described it as being about stepping back from immediate problems and looking at things from a wider perspective. Released now, that idea feels particularly appropriate for a band preparing to step away after more than two decades together.
They still have plenty of live work ahead of them. Enter Shikari will bring their Lose Your Self tour to UK arenas in November, including two nights at London's Alexandra Palace on 20 and 21 November, with Holding Absence and The Callous Daoboys supporting.
For a band approaching an uncertain endpoint, “Higher Ground” is an unusual kind of release. It's not a goodbye, and Enter Shikari aren't treating it as one. For now, they're still writing, still releasing music and still heading out on the road. The difference is that there is now a date on the horizon when they intend to stop.
