‘Tongue’ had already made its live debut at the band’s Brooklyn show earlier this month, giving fans a first listen before its official release.

The track continues the more experimental direction explored on Dopamine Chamber. Guitarist Conor Curley said the band “continued where Romance left off”, with the live-band elements used more selectively. Conor Deegan created the bass sound by manipulating tape speed, while Grian Chatten’s vocals were processed through a sampler.

‘Tongue’ is the sixth track on Dopamine Chamber, an 11-track record produced by James Ford. The album also features ROSALÍA on ‘Where Is Gone?’, marking the first guest appearance on a Fontaines D.C. studio album.

The album was recorded between London, the English countryside and Palermo, and follows 2024’s Romance. The band have described the new record as a move further away from the guitar-led sound of their earlier work towards something colder, stranger and more synthetic.

Dopamine Chamber is released on 16 October 2026 via XL Recordings.
