The 13-track record follows 2023's Starcatcher and was co-produced by the band with Mike Elizondo. Recorded in Tennessee earlier this year, the album includes the previously released singles “Play Your Games” and “Saw You Stand”, alongside new tracks “Tear It Down”, “Into The Beginning” and “Tough Again”.

The album's title has a distinctly British connection. It takes its name from Alexandra Palace in north London, the venue Greta Van Fleet headlined in 2022. Guitarist Jake Kiszka has explained that the building's original identity as a public space became a starting point for the band's thinking about what a place belonging to everyone might mean today.

In a new interview with Guitar World, Kiszka describes the recording process as an opportunity to draw on a wider range of musical influences than the band had explored previously. He also discusses how his work with side project Mirador changed his perspective before returning to Greta Van Fleet. The album retains the band's familiar guitar-led rock foundation while incorporating progressive and other stylistic elements.

Early reviews suggest the record will continue to divide opinion. Louder Sound praises moments including “Tear It Down”, “Lost In The Golden” and “Tough Again”, but questions whether the band have developed their sound far enough across four albums. That criticism touches on a debate which has followed Greta Van Fleet since their emergence: how much should a successful rock band change when its established sound is already reaching a large audience?

The band have also announced their Into The Beginning tour for 2027, with dates across North America and Europe, including UK shows. The tour will give the new material its first substantial run of live performances.

With Palace For The People, Greta Van Fleet have put a fresh record into a conversation that has followed them for much of their career. Whether the album represents a significant step forward or a refinement of a formula they know well is likely to remain a point of disagreement.

Palace For The People is out now via Republic Records.
