Kate Nash releases “Freedom of Me” from forthcoming album Cailín
Kate Nash has released “Freedom of Me”, a track from her forthcoming sixth album, Cailín, due 22 January 2027 via Kill Rock Stars.

Artist: Kate Nash
Eleven years in the making, the record sees Nash explore her Irish heritage, combining traditional Irish instrumentation with punk energy and elements of hip-hop production. Recorded on Ireland’s west coast, the album features contributions from musicians playing fiddle, flute, bodhrán, harp and banjo, with Nash also returning to the tin whistle, the first instrument she learned.
Across its 12 tracks, Cailín addresses family, religion, inequality, colonialism and internalised shame, drawing on Irish folklore and the experiences of women across generations.
“Freedom of Me” follows “Spilt Milk”, which examines reproductive rights, and Nash’s cover of Sinéad O’Connor’s “Famine”, a song that prompted her to explore Britain’s role in the Great Hunger and her own Irish roots.
The album also follows Nash’s outspoken campaign for better conditions for musicians, including her Butts for Tour Buses protest highlighting the financial pressures facing artists on tour.
