The Cribs will return to their hometown of Wakefield next summer for a special show marking 20 years of Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever, with !Forward, Russia! joining them as special guests.

Taking place at Tileyard North on Friday 20 August 2027, the concert will see The Cribs perform their third album in full. It will be their first hometown show in more than a decade and the first confirmed headline event for next year’s Live at Tileyard North series.

Released in 2007, Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever marked a significant point in the band’s career. Produced by Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos, the record included ‘Men’s Needs’, ‘Moving Pictures’ and ‘Our Bovine Public’, helping establish the Wakefield trio beyond their earlier lo-fi beginnings.

The album’s anniversary will also bring the band back to familiar ground. The Jarman brothers originally wrote and rehearsed at the Tileyard North site in the early 2000s, close to where they grew up.

Yorkshire art-rock band !Forward, Russia! will also perform their debut album, Give Me a Wall, in full. The pairing brings together two acts whose work helped shape the region’s alternative scene during the same period.

The concert will launch the second year of Live at Tileyard North, which hosted performances by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Stranglers, The Fratellis and Ocean Colour Scene during its inaugural 2026 season.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday 23 October, with a Wakefield postcode presale opening at 10am on Wednesday 21 October.
