The Offspring’s Noodles Steps Away From Live Shows Due to Serious Health Issue
The guitarist has announced an indefinite break from performing, while his bandmates have pledged to continue playing in his absence.
The Offspring guitarist Kevin ‘Noodles’ Wasserman has announced that he is stepping away from live performances to deal with a sudden and serious health issue.
In a statement shared on the band’s official social media accounts on Wednesday, 21 October, Noodles said the decision had come with deep sadness. He has not disclosed the nature of the condition or given a timeframe for his return.
The guitarist also reassured fans that his bandmates are supporting him and will continue performing while he is away. He hopes to return to the stage as soon as he is able, thanking fans for their messages of support.
The announcement comes as The Offspring approach the final dates of a busy year of live performances. Their next scheduled appearance is at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on 24 October, followed by SEMA Fest in Las Vegas on 6 November and Corona Capital in Mexico City on 21 November. The band is also listed for iHeartRadio ALTer Ego 2027 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on 16 January.
No replacement guitarist has been announced, and the band has not indicated that any of these performances will be cancelled.
Noodles joined The Offspring in 1985, shortly after the band formed in California in 1984. Alongside frontman Dexter Holland, he has been central to the group’s development from the Southern California punk scene into one of the genre’s most commercially successful acts.
His guitar work has featured throughout the band’s catalogue, including landmark releases such as ‘Smash’ (1994), which helped bring punk rock to a much wider audience, and ‘Americana’ (1998), home to ‘Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)’ and ‘The Kids Aren’t Alright’.
The band’s most recent studio album, ‘Supercharged’, arrived in October 2024.
For now, the focus remains on Noodles’ health and recovery. While he has not provided a return date, his message makes clear that he hopes to be back performing sooner rather than later.
The Pit Standard wishes Noodles all the best as he takes time to focus on his health.
