The prospect of another year of The Cure on the road is now looking considerably more likely after Robert Smith confirmed that the band are planning further live dates for 2027.

Speaking in a message to BBC Radio 6 Music on 3 November, Smith said: “I’m looking forward to more Cure concerts in 2027. Of course I’m not allowed to say where or when yet, but I’m confident they’ll be bursting with new songs.”

There are no dates or locations to announce just yet, leaving fans waiting to find out where the band will take their next run of shows. However, Smith’s reference to new songs adds another reason to look forward to their return.

The comments also bring renewed attention to the considerable amount of unreleased material the band have been working on. In June, Smith revealed that recording sessions had produced enough material for three albums. He confirmed that the second record was finished and ready to be delivered to Universal, while describing a third as a more upbeat, pop-oriented direction for the band.

The next release is expected to follow 2024’s Songs of a Lost World, their first studio album in 16 years.

The Cure’s most recent live appearance was at Paris festival Rock en Seine in August, bringing their 2026 summer performances to a close.

With new music in the pipeline and further concerts now confirmed for 2027, there is plenty happening in the Cure camp. For now, Smith is keeping the details firmly under wraps.
