Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s Final Show Gets Official Film and Soundtrack Release
‘Back to the Beginning’ captures Ozzy’s final performances, a historic Black Sabbath reunion and a gathering of rock and metal royalty.

Ozzy Osbourne’s final bow is getting a permanent record. Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, the concert film documenting the landmark farewell at Birmingham’s Villa Park, will arrive alongside an official live soundtrack on 11 December 2026.
The announcement came on 28 October, when the film also received its worldwide cinema release. To mark the occasion, Ozzy’s performance of ‘Mr. Crowley’ was made available as a standalone live track and video, giving fans an early look at the footage ahead of the home release.
Held on 5 July 2025, Back to the Beginning brought Ozzy back to his home city for one final performance, reuniting him with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for Black Sabbath’s first performance together in more than 20 years. It would become Ozzy’s final live appearance, just 17 days before his death, aged 76.
The scale of the event reflected the band's influence across generations of heavy music. Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Halestorm were among the acts on the bill. Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello served as musical director, while Jason Momoa hosted the event.
The concert also made a substantial contribution beyond the stage, reportedly raising around £11 million for charity. For a band whose early sound helped establish the foundations of heavy metal, the gathering brought together artists shaped by their legacy for a farewell in the city where it all began.
The home release will be available digitally and across physical formats, including 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, CD and double vinyl. The concert film runs for approximately two and a half hours and includes Ozzy’s solo set and Black Sabbath’s closing performance, alongside behind-the-scenes footage, video tributes and the Sounds of Birmingham documentary.
The standard digital soundtrack contains nine tracks from Ozzy’s solo set and Black Sabbath’s final performance, including ‘Crazy Train’, ‘Mr. Crowley’, ‘War Pigs’, ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Paranoid’. The accompanying film also features special guest performances, including Jack Black taking on ‘Mr. Crowley’ and Fred Durst performing ‘Changes’.
For collectors, an expanded deluxe box set is scheduled for 23 April 2027. It includes three Blu-rays, two CDs, three vinyl LPs, a 72-page hardback book, an Ozzy pendant necklace, a numbered certificate of authenticity and a film poster art print. Its bonus Blu-ray features all 35 Ozzy and Black Sabbath songs and guest covers performed in concert order, while the additional CD and third LP feature nine guest covers.
The original Villa Park show was conceived as Ozzy’s opportunity to thank the fans who had followed him throughout his career. With the original Black Sabbath line-up reunited for the final time, Back to the Beginning preserves more than a farewell concert: it documents a defining moment in heavy metal history, bringing Ozzy’s story back to the city where it began.
‘Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning’ is released on 11 December 2026. The deluxe box set follows on 23 April 2027.
